Sofie Siegmann landed in Japan and immediately started collecting printed materials such as chopstick wrappers, city maps, lunch-tray adornments, hotel brochures, train schedules and invitations to art shows. Her eyes had found new fodder: extreme attention to detail, exquisite sense for colors, lively portrayal of kitsch, and beauty. She purchased a folding book where red stamps from temples are collected as a traditional manifestation of pilgrimage. Using the book as her canvas, and cultural foundation, she filled it with collage ink drawings. They are a compilation of imagery she found throughout Japan. www.sofiesiegmann.com
