ARTIST'S STATEMENT

My attraction to photography comes from its peculiar connection to the real world. It gives me the ability to capture intricate detail as well as expressive composition. It prompts me to look more closely at what exists here and now.

After a basic photographic education—and away from any teacher's influence—I became fascinated with landscape for a long time. My interests evolved from land forms to any natural form to natural phenomena. I became more aware of the traces of nature over time.

To relate my experience as one part of the world, I isolate form with the camera. Back in the studio I combine related images in series so that each image reveals something in the others--just as, beneath the paper's surface, emotion resonates within the photographic prints.
